The need for specialty solutions

Protective packaging products typically focus on general and bulk use, leaving significant gaps in effectiveness for logistics professionals. Many of these packaging solutions cannot endure heavy loads or harsh conditions.

This generalization is particularly problematic for sectors like automotive and electronics, where the integrity of components during manufacturing, shipping, and post-delivery is critical. Unfortunately, most major packaging retailers offer a limited selection that does not cater to specialty needs, forcing shippers to compromise on protection and risking damage to their products in transit.

The right tool for the right job

Die-cut components:

Die-cut components represent a process rather than a specific product. The die-cutting technique fully cuts (compared to kiss-cutting, which partially cuts) items tailored to a customer’s precise measurements. This process allows for cutting various materials, including metal, plastic, and wood. Adherex provides die-cutting services for a wide range of specialty and standard products.

Kiss-cutting capabilities:

Kiss-cutting is a process similar to die-cutting. It involves separating adhesive pieces without cutting completely through them, facilitating easy removal from the backing. Adhesive labels and tapes are pre-cut yet remain attached to a paper backing, protecting the adhesive during storage and shipping.

NVH felt:

Noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) felt functions as a liner designed to dampen vibrations, thereby preventing damage and noise. NVH felt can be die-cut for specific applications.

Buzz squeak rattle (BSR) products:

Buzz squeak rattle (BSR) products are designed mainly for automotive applications to prevent unwanted noise. The most commonly used BSR products include high-friction and cushioning tapes, such as UHMW, flock, and foam tape. NVH products are often integrated with BSR solutions.

3M Bumpon product:

The Bumpon is a specialized packaging item developed by 3M. Small, flat, or rounded rubber pieces separate the attached object from surrounding surfaces. This product commonly provides a protective layer for fragile items such as glass or electronics.

3M Dual Lock:

3M Dual Lock is another product produced by 3M and distributed by Adherex. It comprises a locking strip that connects two objects using adhesive. Although it resembles Velcro, the mechanisms of the connections differ. Options include reusable, sealing dual lock products and permanent dual lock products, the latter of which can replace mechanical fasteners like screws and feature a more compact profile.

Hook and loop (Velcro):

Hook and loop is the general term for Velcro. It is primarily utilized for resealable packaging, clothing, and various products. Most hook and loop items come with an adhesive backing applicable to any desired surface. Some hook and loop strips can be sewn into furniture, clothing, and other fabric items.

Tabbing:

Tabbing is a widely recognized term in the packaging industry. This process involves applying adhesive and folding edges of boxes, mailers, and envelopes to seal them under pressure during shipping. We can work with you to create custom tabbing solutions based on your application.
