Industrial Tapes

Primetac, Now Part of Adherex Group

Packaging, repair work, factory operations, and other heavy-duty industries require strong and versatile adhesives. Each field also has a distinctive mix of needs for its tape solutions.

Adherex’s industrial tapes are a collection of specialized and multi-use tapes that adhere and protect in demanding and unique applications.

Foil and cloth tapes are high-tensile, flexible, and tough. Double-sided tapes replace rivets and bind surfaces together for a permanent hold. PTFE glass cloth and Teflon tapes are used in plumbing for their water-resistant properties. Adhesive transfer and splicing tapes bind material sheets to smooth out production, and removable/repositionable tapes seal and reseal as needed.

Industrial Tapes for Every Use Case

Industrial adhesives need to be strong and resistant to extreme conditions. Most standard tapes have the initial tack to seal, bond, and stick but cannot withstand the heat, water, or stress of heavy-duty applications. Standard industrial tapes are suitable for temporary use, but plumbing, HVAC, and automobile construction all demand long-lasting, durable solutions.

Adherex’s industrial tapes are specialized adhesive tapes designed to meet these demands. Create watertight seals with Teflon and PTFE glass cloth tapes. Bond substrates firmly and maintain production throughput with adhesive transfer, double-sided, and splicing tapes. Be ready for anything with cloth, foil, and removable/repositionable tapes.

Water-Based vs. Solvent Acrylic CSTs

Foil Tapes:

Foil tapes are strong adhesive tapes with a foil backing for greater durability. Their flexibility makes them ideal for use on irregular surfaces, while their heat and cold resistance make them useful in HVAC applications.

Double-Sided Tapes:

Double-sided tapes’ high tack adhesive binds surfaces together for long-lasting applications. Their adhesive is strong enough to replace rivets and screws in auto manufacturing.

Teflon and PTFE Glass Cloth Tapes:

Teflon and PTFE glass cloth tapes are low-friction polytetrafluoroethylene tapes. Teflon tapes are highly water-resistant and often used in plumbing. PTFE glass cloth tapes are backed with glass thread-reinforced cloth used for surface lining and high-temperature applications.

Splicing Tapes:

Splicing tapes are adhesive tapes used to bond rolls of material together for ease of manufacturing.

Cloth Tapes:

Cloth tapes are cloth-backed adhesive tapes for general use. Cloth tapes, including the most common example, duct tape, are used to seal, secure, and facilitate temporary repairs on a wide variety of surfaces.

Adhesive Transfer Tapes:

Adhesive transfer tapes are double-sided tapes without a liner. They bind fabric, wood, and plastic surfaces, even at high temperatures.

Removable/repositionable Tapes:

Removable/repositionable tapes are used for mounting or sealing items designed to move or reopen. One side consists of a strong, sometimes permanent adhesive for mounting, and the other has a low-stick, residue-free adhesive for repeated use.

FAQs

When are industrial tapes useful?

Industrial tapes are useful under extreme conditions and in heavy-duty applications, such as plumbing, auto manufacturing, and HVAC.

Are removable/repositionable tapes fully removable?

Removable/repositionable tapes have one fully removable low-tack side and one heavy-duty permanent side.

What is the difference between double-sided and adhesive transfer tapes?

Double-sided tapes include a carrier layer in between the two layers of adhesive, which can be of different types. Adhesive transfer tapes are a single sheet of adhesive with no carrier.

Understanding the Shelf Life of Adhesive Tapes in Industrial Settings

Understanding the shelf life of adhesive tapes requires some consideration and management on the part of distributors, shippers, and manufacturers. Industrial buyers may purchase dozens or even hundreds of rolls of tape at once and must think about how to best manage shelf life. Custom tapes and other specialty packaging products can have long lead times due to the manufacturing process, which further complicates the shelf life of adhesive tapes.
